Top rail installation?

Postby l8brkr » Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:07 am

I'm about to install a top rail mount (factory) on my CX4. I'm a little disappointed that it requires drilling over the barrel... Whether it be lost metal shavings or contact w/ barrel I guess i was expecting factory accessories to be ready to go and bolt-on. Is there amy wisdom on "things I wish I knew before I installed the top rail?"

You are just drilling thru soft plastic. You do not need much of a drill, just follow the included instructions.
I always suggest a little lock-tight (blue) on the screws prior to mounting, and finally do not over tighten the mounting screws.

Thanks for the encouragement! I wonder why they did not mold/drill the other two holes pre-manufacture given they did include the forward one...

Factory torque recommended? lbs?? I, also, am a believer in the Blue Loctite Stik for about every screw. You can control the location and amount, unlike the LocTite liquid. 8)
